The Executive Intelligence/Promotability
(ex~I/P) Index
A 360°-based feedback survey developed
from the works of
Menkes, Beckhard and Harris, and Buckingham and Clifton

As you may already know, 360° surveys are "full circle"
evaluations that provide constructive feedback from respected coworkers
and colleagues. By asking others for their opinions and comparing their
responses to our own, differences in perceptions become readily
apparent. Identifying these gaps - as a first step to bridging them - is
the underlying purpose of a 360° survey.
The ex~I/P index is based, in large part, on the work
of Justin Menkes, and his book, Executive Intelligence
(HarperCollins Publishers, 2005). Through his research, Menkes
determined that there are 17 "specific cognitive aptitudes" spanning
three "central contexts" - the accomplishment of tasks, working with and
through other people, and judging oneself and adapting one's behavior
accordingly - that can readily predict whether executives will
ultimately succeed or fail in their work. Survey respondents will be asked
to evaluate you on these very same Executive Intelligence competencies.
The work of Richard Beckhard and Reuben T. Harris,
Organizational Transitions: Managing Complex Change (Addison-Wesley
Publishing Company, 1987) is also applied in this survey. Whether it's
for the purposes of affecting organizational change or improving a
colleague's opinion of you, commitment planning, plays a central
role. As such, respondents will be asked to disclose their commitment to
your success thereby establishing a baseline from which to strategize
and move forward.
The ex~I/P is an excellent 360°-tool for soliciting
feedback
from peers an supervisors
The ex~I/P application section is based, in part, on the
research findings reported in Now, Discover Your Strengths, by
Marcus Buckingham and Donald O. Clifton (The Free Press, 2001).
Lastly, the relevancy of the specific approach being taken for this 360°
Survey is founded in, and validated by, hundreds of hours of
coach-specific training, and thousands of hours of 1-on-1 coaching
interactions with GottaGettaCoach! clientele from across the globe.
"I learned so much about myself
from the ex~I/P assessment...things about myself
that pretty much everyone else already knew.
Yes, it was pretty embarrassing, but the good
news is that now I know them, too, and can start
doing something about them."
