I am a Life Coach and I have my own practice. People always told me at start to have a niche. But one of the things about coaching is that we are taught that we are not the be experts at advice. the client is the expert in their own life. We are to ask powerful questions and listen, create structure/accountability, etc. If we take this perspective, then we can coach anybody. It is when we start to think that we need to know that we get more into consulting and in that case we would need to have a niche or particular expertise. So, I do not have a niche.

Hi Life Coach ~ Thanks for stopping by. Yes, your logic makes good sense to me.

One of my very first bosses – Ricky, I think his name was – used to always say, "There's more than one way to ... PET ... a cat."

Indeed, typically, there IS more than one way to … get things done..., isn't there?!

So, as far as I’m concerned, anyone who ASSERTS that new coaches MUST niche in order to succeed isn’t being all that creative … or Ricky-like, for that matter.

And they certainly aren’t being very coach-like, either, if you ask me.

(But they probably DO have at least one product or service available for sale to helps new coaches … wait for it … niche, sooner!)

Of course, I’m not saying that a new coach can NOT niche. I’m just saying that it’s important for new coaches to know that there’s more than just one way to build a successful coaching practice.

Prrrrrrrrr! Good, Kitty.
