What does showing up mean to YOU?
When our self-esteem takes a hit, it’s not always easy to restore it back to its former level. And even if we do, it often only then becomes apparent that it wasn’t all that strong to begin with. So my advice to you is to go deep inside and decide whether you want to take more responsibility for how you let others affect you. I like what Woody Allen said about this: “80% of success is showing up.”
So what does showing up mean to you?

"Showing up" is being a participant in the right here, right now and not being concerned with what happened yesterday, last week, or even five minutes ago. When you "show up," you have a respect for the consequences of the future, but don't dwell on what is going to happen until it happens.
I think the saying should be "80% of success is showing up with the right attitude." Just showing up does not guarantee anything.....
Great blog!
Nice way to phrase it, julia.
Regarding donna anna's notion of showing up "with the right attitude," I think she's on to something, as well. I'd call that Phase II, though, because far too many people don't show up at all - or not nearly enough.
I wonder, though, do you need the 'right' attitude in order to show up, or can the act of showing up help create the right attitude inside us?
