What's YOUR Client Acquisition Strategy?
If there's one common truth among an awful lot of newbie coaches these days it's this:
Many (most?) coaches don't have a viable Client Acquisition strategy, Visibility strategy - or any other type of Business Development strategy, for that matter.
You see it's one thing to WANT to coach. But it's something else entirely to have enough clients so that you CAN coach.
The shame is that there are a some wonderfully capable coaches out there who just can't seem to figure out a way to add new clients. You, in fact, may be one of them. But while coaching acumen is an important competency for a coach to have, an inability to restock your client roster will trump your coaching acumen almost every time.
That's right, without an imminently doable - and repeatable - Client Acquisition Strategy, there's likely to be too little business coming in to allow you to remain a coach.
"Strategy" is a just fancy word for knowing what to do - and what not to bother with.
None of my experience as an executive in the business world prepared me for the simple, but harsh, truth about the reality of life as a coach:
You can't really be a coach if you don't have anyone to coach.
It's true for any type of
business, but especially true for coaches because coaching is
still pretty new to most people. Coaching may, indeed, be your Calling -
as I believe it is mine. But if you're finding the philosophies of
"attraction" and "abundance" aren't giving you the traction you need to
remain a coach, it's time you take another look at rebuilding your
business-building strategy.
